The desert sun hits the rocky hill and reflects a golden-yellow from the walls. The Golden Fort of Jaisalmer is one of the largest forts in the world. It's an ancient Rajput fortress built on Trikuta Hill above the city. Built in 1156, the fort is occupied even today with many of the city's residents living inside. The beautiful yellow sandstone structures give the fort its distinctive golden color. Jaisalmer Fort has been the site of numerous historic battles. The fort is an amazing complex of a triple layer of walls and watch towers.
