San Francisco is a city that's known for its many unique, strange, and fascinating attractions. Up there in the ranking is the De Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. This art museum is singular in its design, exhibits, and in its rather troubled history. The original museum opened in 1898, but was heavily damaged in the 1989 earthquake. The new museum opened in 2005, a new building with a viewing deck over the Bay. The De Young Museum has thousands of different kinds of art pieces in its collection.
